Both the court in Rochester and Governor David Paterson have weighed in on cases such as this by saying that gay marriages performed in other jurisdictions are valid in New York State. The state's highest court upheld the ruling and the net result should be that this couple receives coverage. What baffles me is that the district is not raising any problems at all, but the insurance company is.
