The best thing that could happen for marriage equality advocates in New York state is the retirement of Senator Joe Bruno. He has held up the legislation for over 7 years now. With him out of the picture and a shift to the Democrats, it seems entirely possible that New York will ratify marriage equality. If that happens, it is only a matter of when New Jersey, Connecticut and Vermont will follow suit. As gay marriage becomes legal in more states, eventually, the rest of the nation will follow suit.

New York Senate Shakeup Might Help Move Marriage Equality
New York's senate majority leader, Joseph Bruno, a 32-year institution in the state senate, announced his retirement!
It's always Good News when these Corrupt career politicians
retire. Voters have the power but seldom react to get the do-nothing corrupt politicians out of office.
With Bruno gone maybe, just mabe, the state will advance in a positive way concerning HoMosexual issues...
It's just sad that it takes a retirement to get this garbage out of office....

The big challenge now is to re-double our efforts to get new and more progressive Senators elected this November....
We are as the article says only two seats away in the current Senate... However, to really be safe, we need to have a solid plurality.
