FTA-Apparently, a quarter to a third of all U.S. adults have been divorced. That would seem to indicate a much bigger threat to marriage than same-sex couples.

I've said REPEATEDLY...if you want to preserve the sanctity of marriage....make it HARDER to get divorced.

Marriage is a LEGAL CONTRACT that has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with religion.
Once you Religious Fanatics get that through your pin heads the world will be a MUCH better place.

raats -- Trevy has a point, no matter how crudely he puts it. We hope that legality and morality are the same, but t'aint always so. Morality belongs to somebody; legality belongs to us all.
We currently have abortion on demand in many (forget whether all) places. Some religious persuasions argue against it, stating that life begins at conception; even if you don't agree with this, there is close to universal agreement that a fetus is viable outside the mother after six months. Yet we still allow abortions after this benchmark. I'd submit that this is a case of legality conflicting with almost universally accepted morality and medical reality.
I understand the arguments for gay marriage; someone's morality should not have to be someone else's legality. But if we're being intellectually honest and consistent, we'd have to reject the abortions above. We haven't.

NO, Trevy does NOT have a point. THIS is the point that is LOST on Trevy and the rest of the idiots that have similar views...Marriage is a LEGAL issue it is NOT a religious issue. THAT is the problem.
Since Religious Fanatics seem to think that they are the ONLY ones who have a lock on the MORALITY debate it makes it a LITTLE difficult to have an 'open debate' on the subject.
