And California joins the 21st century.

Good for California, treating all of its citizens as equal before the law.

I wonder how long it will take the rest of the country?

Another Court creating law from the bench.

As Senator Biden would say, "BS".

This is upholding not only our most sacred values, but the single most important part of being an American.

We are ALL equal before the law.

Really? Actually read the article rather than just parroting what Rush Limbaugh said. The Supreme Court of California said that a law voted on by the people of California is UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Get it? People wanted to discriminate and the court said that they can't. No creating law. Just interpreting the laws that already exist.

California has made history today. Finally the people of California are truly equal. Gays and lesbians can now finally wed after so much to do. None of the issues raised were federal issues; hence, this should not be appealed to the US Supreme Court. Kudos, California!

Approximately one of every eight Americans is a Californian. Their sheer numbers are such that they interact daily with residents of every other state, do business everywhere, travel everywhere, and some of them move to every other part of the nation. These facts will exert great pressure upon other states to recognize ALL California marriages, not just the ones which conform to their own historical limitations, and should ultimately result in gay couples finally achieving equal rights everywhere.

I am not, of course, predicting instant justice in Fred Phelps' neighborhood, but it's coming. Inevitably, it is coming.

"Here we go again. By putting this issue out in the public psyche again during a presidential election you can bet the Republicans are going to seize the opportunity to advocate the ban of same sex marriages. President Bush successfully used this issue as a wedge issue during '04 and many people believe he won because of it."

And oddly enough, after being reelected and having the majority in Congress, the Republicans never did pass a federal ban.

It might make one wonder how seriously the Republicans take outlawing same-sex marriage.

They know that they can't. Just like when the sodomy laws were shot down, these bans too are unconstitutional and prevent one American from having the same rights afforded other Americans.

My own mother said that she does not want me to have the right to get married although her reasons are much more selfish. She doesn't want my husband to be able to touch her money and if I am married with the same rights afforded every other married couple, he could ask for part of the money I have given her.

Sad huh?
