Gay & Lesbian – The Michigan Supreme Court has ruled that governments and state universities can't offer health insurance to the partners of gay workers.
I grew up in Lambertville, MI in the southeast side of the state. Michigan is a wonderful state, but this episode leaves the couples of Michigan in a lurch. I wonder how high and mighty the justices feel knowing that they have taken away the rights and benefits bestowed to gays and lesbians. Is ok, though, we are used to being second class citizens. We can get by on the table scraps that we are tossed every now and then.
Oh, david! Don't be bitter, or despondent! We depend on you to stand up for the right thing, and we'll win out in the end, you'll see!
Come now, tkyrchncs, Michigan can do better than this. Perhaps the thing to do is to encourage the legislature to enact a law which would allow for gay and lesbian couples to have partner benefits. If they are made available to both gay and straight couples, perhaps the law could survive a constitutional challenge.

Then they had better not offer those benefits to common law marriages.
And I liked going to Saugatuk. It's a gay town not too far from Chicago and one of my favorite camp grounds CampIt is there.
I would love to go there this summer, but now alas I can't.
