Opponents and supporters of a proposed constitutional amendment that would bar same-sex marriage and civil unions in Pennsylvania filled a committee room at the Capitol in one of the session's most emotional hearings. Both sides came to public hearings Tuesday before the Senate Appropriations Committee.

If Pennsylvania takes the step of defining marriage via a constitutional amendment, PA will have taken a step backward into ignorance. The LGBT community may not have many votes, but we do spend a considerable amount of money here in PA. We will vote with out wallets and go to places like Massachusetts, where our families have value. This amendment must be soundly defeated.

  Perhaps it won't be reported out of committee, David. If it is then there still need to be four votes to get it to the people, right? Good luck, I'm pulling for you guys. We're not so lucky here, it's already a done deal in VA. =(
