Ron Paul On Gay Marriage
Gay & Lesbian – "I'd like to see all governments out of the marriage question. I don't think it's a state function. I think it's a religious function."
It really is too bad this guy has no chance to win the election. How right he is about overboard interference in people's personal choices by the Federal Government! The tag line on this article is what I have been saying about this issue for years. If we as gay people actually have a separate culture, why in the world would we want to co-opt this straight religious practice into it? Why codify a relationship in this way, when it fails legally 50% of the time, and personally, more often than that? Would our commitmemt one to another be enhanced in any way? Doubtful. I'm surprised that every lawyer in the nation isn't pro-gay marriage. Every single issue of spousal benefits can be handled in other ways than traditional marriage. I did most of it in VA, one of the most conservative states, so it can be done (No ss benefits, also no shared health ins, but we were better off without sharing ins.)
